2002 4th of July Parade
Northern Illinois Tejano Cultural Society marches with "American Pride" at the 2002 4th of July Parade in Aurora, Illinois.
Many of the NITCS members were in attendance at the 4th of July Parade. NITCS was representative by a float decorated with the emblems of Tejas and Illinois. Flags of Tejas and Illinois were placed on the float and the Dodge Ram Pick Up Truck to give some attraction to the march. NITCS marched the streets of downtown Aurora to the tunes of the "Kumbia Kings". Thousands of observers were able to watch the NITCS and their proud members march to Keeping Education Alive. People were amazed by the Harley Davidsons that rode through the downtown streets as they too representative the NITCS. Also, helping the NITCS march for Education Awareness was Armando E. of Chizzme. Armando E. and wife, Sara, are proud members of the NITCS and marched side by side with American Pride as the 4th of July parade passed through the thousands of observers. There was no doubt that the NORTHERN ILLINIOS TEJANO CULTURAL SOCIETY had a sense of unity among the participating marchers. Even William Ortiz showed the crowd his classic "hot rod" car as he honked his horn with pride.
On this day,
the NITCS was marching for the independence that America provides to all ethics
and groups. Many thanks to the President - Elida Ortiz and Vice-President
- Maria Castillo for their hard commitment and dedication. Because of Elida,
Maria, Irma, Apolinar, Estella,Sarah, and many more members, the 4th of July
parade was a success and showed other the meaning of unity. In three simple
words - " America the Beautiful".
