Topeka Kansas Our Lady of Guadalupe Fiesta Mexicana
Back a
few months ago, the Northern Illinois Tejano Cultural Society received an
email from Our Lady of Guadalupe Fiesta Mexicana and Carlos Gomez. Carlos
visited the www.nitcs.org website and was very impressed with the site and
the organization. Carlos invited the entire organization to come down to Topeka,
Kansas and joy in on the celebration of the 70th Annual Our Lady of Guadalupe
Fiesta Mexicana. Carlos also had interest in bringing one of Illinois best
Tejano DJ's - Big Daddy Tejano and MC - Joel Castillo. The NITCS accepted
the invitation and was represented by over twenty members in Topeka, Kansas
including Big Daddy Tejano - Gibert Borrego, and Joel Castillo. The festival
took place from July 15 -19, 2003. Never has the NITCS met any greater people
than those from Topeka, Kansas. They welcomed us with open arms and gave us
one awesome Fiesta. Also after the Fiesta, after parties took place at the
Ramada Inn in Topeka, Kansas featuring the DJ work of "Big Daddy Tejano".
The NITCS even got the opportunity to meeet all the Tejano Stars backstage
and was able to introduce many of the Tejano Stars to the stage. At this time,
Northern Illinois Tejano Cultural Society would like to thank the following
